Visual Story Network

One of the filmmakers we have been seeking to pair up with a mentor was Scott Faring.  Brian Bird had introduced him to VSN.  Jess Stainbrooke was going to try to get him involved in a feature project he is working on.

Scott produced a 168 Project film this year.  Scott and I exchanged emails a handful of times (including last Monday).    I received this news today from John Ware (168 Project president) about Scott.

Scott was hit by a drunk driver this past Friday and killed on impact.  The drunk was being chased by the police at speeds up to 100 when she crossed into Scott's lane and struck him head on. The women is alive and at the hospital.

He was 45 years old and was very excited about the rest of his life. Just last Tuesday, he told me with great passion and excitement about his many jumps from an airplane (over 500) and his plans for future films.

His film "Free Fall" will be shown at his memorial, to be announced soon. It's based on Nehemiah 9:17 They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them (NIV).

The film's logline: "A man's life flashes before his eyes as he falls to the earth."

I do not know who Scott is survived by.  Pray for his loved ones.

Keep investing in the lives of others for His sake

Hello,
My condolences to Scott's family, 168 Project and John Ware in particular and VSN in general. It is a great loss especially at a time when good hands are in very short supply and particularly for one as passionate. Nonetheless, it is well.

Yeah , that was really sad and crazy news. But now he is in a better place!! My condolences to his family!

Many of you may know by now, but Scott's stage name was Faring.  His given name was Scott Farinha and he was my brother. He was not married, but is survived by his mom and dad, two older brothers, and me, his only sister, along with 9 nieces and nephews. I would love to be in contact with any of you who knew him well, as he was not in a great deal of contact with his family before he died. I also have a copy of a screenplay he wrote that, I understand, he was in contact with someone about producing not long before his death.  I know nothing of the film industry (what we did have in common is the stage - I have a couple of scripts he wrote, that I hope to produce in my theatre company here in northern ca, in the next year) but would love to see him honored in some way and his legacy and memory kept by getting this produced if there is any possible way.  Thanks to all of you who knew him, worked with him and helped him in this, one of his many talents and loves.

Deedee,

Wow!  Thank you for reaching out.   I only met Scott through email.  We were in the process of connecting him with someone further down the road in media.  Sadly, we never got that far.  My understanding is that he was fairly connected with the 168 Festival.  Have you been in touch with John Ware (of 168) about Scott?

I am very, very sorry for your loss.

Clyde

Thank you. If you think of him, please pray for my family.  As you can expect, it has been very hard on my parents.

No, I have not been in touch with John Ware. Is there a personal e-mail or, better yet, phone number I can contact him at - or, if you like, I can give mine for him, to contact me. Thank you again.

Father, Give grace to this family still reeling from such a great loss.  Give them the hope that Scott is fully experiencing the hope of your calling, the riches of your glorious inheritance, and your incomparably great power because Scott believed.  In Jesus name. Amen

I'll email you John's contact info.

Thank you so much for the prayer(s).

Please give him my theatre e-mail: info@actorsworkshop.net OR theactorsworkshop@gmail.com.

Amen Clyde!

Deedee, thanks for being so open with us. I have been a part of 168 for many years now. I did not know Scott personally, but as I am just reading these comments right now, and am presently for the next 2 days involved with another contest belonging to 168, I wanted to pass this verse, the verse from which a script must be written to you!

2 Corinthians 5:17

New International Version (NIV)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!

May grace and peace be with you and your family.

Amen

Thank you, Travis.  If you know anyone who DID know him personally - I would love to connect with them.

Please give Becky@168project.com and john@168project.com both an email. They work at the 168 film project and would love for you to reach out to them.

Blessings, Rest and Peace

Travis
