I have this charming original story for preteens, a timeless tale of cross cultural value. It was developed and written in screenplay form. I believe it would make a really good book. If there is a talented illustrator who is looking for an inspirational story, and who has publishing connections (or willing to seek them out) I would love to hear from you.
Below is a synopsis of the story:
"Preteens Susan and David Murdock and Tom Short out of necessity forge an uneasy alliance. With the help of an intelligent donkey named Rembrandt, they set out on a perilous journey to stop Nathan Short’s selfish and destructive plan to expand his agri-business by stealing the Murdock’s organic farm. The children place their faith in an old fisherman’s tale about a fabulous pearl lodged in the gut of an ancient mystical fish, but when the children’s desperate attempt to retrieve a giant pearl from “Coelacanth” fails and Nathan’s greed has driven the two families to the precipice of a calamitous end, Tom’s courageous act of faith saves his father and redeems them all. ‘The Pearl’ is the story of the redemption of a man, his son and his neighbours."
