DO ENDURING MOVIES have “morals” or themes?
Of course, no doubt, indisputably!
Most every great and enduring movie story — consider the AFI’s top 100 or the 300-plus that Roger Ebert listed as The Great Movies — communicates some “point” or “lesson” to be considered. And typically a story won’t have any meaning OR endure at all without at least one such!!

AS I'VE WRITTEN elsewhere, there is a HUGE difference between mere fleeting "tales" and actual enduring "stories."
