This message is the start of an online ministry that is dedicated to helping Christians pray better.
The name of this new ministry is Let's Pray Better.
There is a link to the survey at the end of this message and your opportunity to subscribe to a new weekly newsletter at the end of the survey.
Please pray for God to bless this and future surveys so that I will best use my time and talents for the glory of God.
Your prayers are greatly needed during this early season.
My intentions in making these surveys are to gain a clear understanding of current state Christian prayer from various people. And I want to learn how we can learn to work together in a mutually supportive community in order to consistently pray better.
Surely you agree that there is much room for improvements in our private prayers, shared prayers, and prayers to serve this broken world.
When I have gathered these results then this information will guide me in creating an online community, webinars, and podcasts that have interviews including testimonies of answered prayers.
I already have an abundance of notes, outlines, and short articles.
What I want now is inputs from you and others like you to make sure that I include topics that resonate.
The subject of prayer is hugely complicated and vitally important for the spiritual life of every believer. I have some insights to offer based on my 40 years of following Jesus Christ. During my spiritual journey, I have been a member of a wide range of different churches. I have wisdom from those days.
I do not present myself as an expert in prayer. But I do see myself as a learner and an educator. I desire to continue improving my prayer life and help others to do the same.
As I offer what I have learned and present an interactive online community then surely we will connections and sharing. Please pray that God uses this to gracefully improve our prayer lives.
I trust that as we come together in the name of Jesus Christ for the glory of God our heavenly father that the Holy Spirit will move mightily in our midst.
This survey is sent to the contacts that I have and maybe this has been forwarded to you. So if we have not met then let me introduce myself. My name is John S. Oliver. If you subscribe to the newsletter or join the future online community then you will get to know me better.
I am just learning how to create and share surveys. Please pray for God to guide me in this new skill set.
This survey is for a general Christian audience. And soon I will make targeted surveys that are aimed at the following kinds of people who I believe will bring simple lessons about prayer based on their experiences. These are the ones who are front lines of serving others: parents, grandparents, pastors, missionaries, and small group leaders. Please pray for those surveys to gracefully come together, be shared with the right people, and then may the results be used wisely.
During the coming weeks and months then lots of results will come in from these surveys. I ask you to now begin to pray for God to connect me with those who will help me to study and apply that information.
During the next 12 months, I hope that together we will organize and share our findings in ways that inspire, educate, train, equip, and support one another. That might include a membership community hosted by Ning that has a forum. That will need administrators and moderators. May God bring together those key players right on time.
Fortunately, there are many resources available on prayer. Likewise, there are lots of resources on cooking, gardening, and parenting. But which ones are the best? This general survey and the future surveys will ask for recommendations of what has worked best.
We live in a society that is excessively busy and noisy. There is no end of things to do, places to go, and people to see. The distractions, interruptions, and temptations are all around. So how have people like you and me made the time, place, and energy to pray? What tips, tricks, and hacks can they offer?
What has worked for me over the decades has been to request prayers often. I have been blessed that God has put me in contact with excellent intercessors. I have learned over the years how to best word such prayer requests and I am glad to share that. And the online membership community will have built-in ways to share these requests as well as testify of the answered prayers.
Lord willing from the large online community God will guide some to form prayer groups and prayer partnerships.
The best way to gain any healthy habit is to work with one or more accountability partners. Pray for this to become part of the online community too.
I have never done anything like this before and I do not know anything like this to model. Yet that does not mean it cannot be done or does not need to be done. I admit that apart from Christ I can do nothing. Yet I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.
Kindly make time to fill out this survey and at the end please subscribe to the new weekly newsletter so that your prayers will be used to help many more pray better. And you can help me help others by forwarding this message to those who care about prayer.
