"Studio Re:" has a Short Term Missions Opportunity in Japan for a Filmmaker

The vision of Studio Re: is to impact Japanese culture through the Imagination!

"Studio Re:" produces films in a variety of genres that present redemptive content and pose crucial questions. These films seek to affect and change the shape of contemporary Japanese culture and its inhabitants by assuming a biblical paradigm; offering redemption instead of separation, hope instead of resignation, design instead of chaos.

It is a sowing ministry that will prepare the minds and hearts of the Japanese in order to bridge the gap between them and Jesus Christ.

"Jitensha" -- made in collaboration with Biola University -- has gained international recognition. Selected by the Venice (Italy) Film Festival, as well as five other festivals, Jitensha received the “Vision Award” from the Heartland Film Festival. http://jitenshamovie.com/

We have several other exciting productions in process -- including a music video, and a documentary on Black Gospel music in Japan that a major cable channel in the US wants to broadcast.

Our Strategy is to:

  • Make award-winning mainstream films that have heart, hope, hook, & humanity
  • Encourage & equip emerging filmmakers
  • Establish mutually beneficial collaborative relationships

Thanks Robin! What you are doing with ICE is vitally important, I deeply appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it. And, thanks for connecting me with VSN.

Hey Paul,
Delighted to see the connection that you are making to VSN! This is the kind of networking connections that we love to see happen through ICE... You will really enjoy talking to Clyde; I had a great visit with him yesterday and we're looking forward to developing the whole visual arts aspect of ICE through folks like CAN and VSN. Keep up the great work!
blessings,
Robin

Good to hear from you Don! Actually sent you one, or two eMails since CPI (where we did indeed meet and talk in the lobby area) but they must have been deleted by spam filters. Really good to be in touch again, would love to explore how ORU might be able to be involved on a project with us.

Didn't I meet you in Hako, Japan at the Church Planting Institute last Nov? I shot a video documentary/promotional for Steve Childer's Global Church Advancement organization and I think we talked in the hotel lobby for 10 minutes.

If I recognize your picture/name correctly, I still have your brochure on my desk and have often wondered if there's a way that students at Oral Roberts University might be able to connect their enthusiasm for missions and media with your efforts in Japan.

I've talked to Steve about returning to Japan in 09 for their next event, but nothing is definite.
