In 1865, poet W.R. Wallace wrote this line that has become a truism:
The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
Is the Hand That Rules The World
And while he probably didn’t think about it, world evangelism turns on his quote.
Making disciples of kids around the world is the most strategic part of the great commission.
And yet, a scant amount of time, money, prayer, and disciple-making goes into reaching the kids of the world.
This is true in spite of the fact that studies show that 80% of people come to Christ before age 19 and that kids aged 4 to 14 are the primary years of a decision for Christ.
This is true in spite of the fact that Jesus said that no one is greater in the Kingdom of God than a little child (Matthew 18:4).
This is true in spite of the fact that kids are more open to the gospel than their parents. They don’t have as much cultural baggage. They don’t have decades of indoctrination in another religion or worldview system.
This is true in spite of the fact any time any other movement, such as Communism, wishes to influence a culture, they aggressively target the kids.
We must re-think the paradigms and sacred cows of how we do missions. The answer to turning a culture around for Christ might be right under our noses, about 4 feet high!
